Happy July 4th From Ginger!

On this 4th of July, I am particularly moved by how precious and valuable freedom really is. Ronald Reagan described this in such a compelling way:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

So many sacrifices have been made in order for us to be able celebrate and enjoy the freedoms we have in the United States of America, and we cannot forget to keep teaching our children and our grandchildren this truth. The more I see news of terrorism and attacks on freedom around the globe, the more I’m convinced of the importance of teaching the next generations how our country was founded. The freedoms we have are directly attributable to the many men and women who have laid their lives down so that we could live ours freely.

I am so thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon this country, and for the people who have fought on behalf of freedom…let’s keep up the good fight so that we can continue to stay a free nation. If you have someone younger in your life, I would encourage you to take some time on this holiday weekend to remind them of the price of freedom, and the truly incredible blessing that it is to be able to be free.
